BATON ROUGE – More questions swirl around what LSU football‘s offense will look like again this week.

Tigers interim head coach Frank Wilson told reporters following the team’s practice Thursday afternoon that senior starting quarterback Garrett Nussmeier reaggravated an abdominal injury that he dealt with back in the preseason and during the first month of the regular season.

Prior to that, Wilson had already revealed that both Nussmeier and sophomore Michael Van Buren would share playing time against Arkansas inside Tiger Stadium Saturday (11:45 a.m. CT, SEC Network). Now is it unclear if Nussmeier will be available to play as he’s listed as ‘probable’ on the team’s injury report.

GARRETT NUSSMEIER SUFFERS INJURY IN PRACTICE

While LSU (5-4, 2-4 SEC), losers of four of its last five games, navigates uncertainty at the quarterback position, Arkansas (2-7, 0-5) at least knows what it has at the position in Taylen Green.

Bobby Petrino is the Hogs’ interim head coach after Sam Pittman was fired more than a month ago, and his high-octane offense has put Green in a lot of spots to be very productive in using both his arm and legs.

Garrett Nussmeier ruled out with abdominal injury vs Arkansas

LSU will be without its senior quarterback against the Razorbacks today. Garrett Nussmeier has officially been ruled out, meaning sophomore Michael Van Buren will get his first start in a Tiger uniform.

Earlier this week in practice, Nussmeier reaggravated an torso injury he initially sustained during preseason practice and battled through the first handful of games this season.

Van Buren came in for Nussmeier at Alabama last weekend after the starting quarterback was benched. The backup put up just 53 yards of offense in a quarter-and-a-half of play.

LSU vs Arkansas prediction

Arkansas’ Taylen Green is going to be a lot for LSU’s defense to handle, especially if Whit Weeks can’t play. Nothing from the last several weeks give anyone any indication that LSU’s offense is going to score enough to make this game a rout. This one is close and dramatic at the end, with the Tigers pulling it out late in the fourth quarter. LSU 29, Arkansas 24
