The Georgia Bulldogs home playing surface is going to look a little bit different this upcoming season after a significant partnership was announced on Tuesday.

According to the announcement from the school, the University of Georgia and Progressive Insurance — in collaboration with Georgia Bulldogs Sports Marketing, a joint venture between Learfield and JMI Sports — have partnered up for a significant deal which will include a Progressive logo on Dooley Field at Sanford Stadium.

Georgia is not the only program partnering up with Progressive and is actually 1 of 13 across the country who is a part of the initiative, joining Boise State, Colorado, Iowa, Kansas State, Ole Miss, Oregon, Purdue, SMU, Syracuse, Texas Tech, USC and Wake Forest.

On top of an on-field logo, the partnership will also include include sideboard features, LED signage, digital and social media posts and other game day experiences with the goal of engaging fans.

Georgia Fans Not as Excited to See Corporate Sponsor On Field

While no fan is going to love the idea of a corporate logo gracing the playing surface at an iconic venue, such is the nature of the way things have gone in the sport over the last several years.

The Bulldogs are going to do everything they can to give themselves an advantage in the NIL space, and a multimillion dollar partnership with an insurance giant absolutely is that despite it being another sign that the times have changed.

In an ideal world, Georgia would not be forced to do something like this but this program has always been and must remain on the cutting edge. They say adapt or die, and the University is not going to let itself fall behind competitors when it comes to finances, even if the deal is not going to be popular among fans.
