The NFL Draft’s first round wrapped up late Thursday with one player who starred with Georgia football selected.
Now the draft turns to rounds two and three on Friday night. Several former Bulldogs could be selected.
There’s still more than a dozen players from last year’s team that won a second straight SEC championship waiting to hear their names called in the seven-round draft.
Offensive tackle Monroe Freeling is off the board after going in the first round to the Carolina Panthers.
The draft resumes at 7 p.m. Friday from Pittsburgh.
Here are the players from Georgia most likely to go next:
Georgia best available players Round 2 and 3
After offensive tackle Monroe Freeling was selected with the No. 19 overall pick by the Carolina Panthers on Thursday night, several Bulldogs are candidates to go on Friday night.
CJ Allen, LB, junior
Productive inside backer who was pushed into action as a true freshmen and left as a clear leader on the defense. The Barnesville native made plays sideline to sideline, racking up 205 tackles in three seasons with 13.5 tackles for loss and 4.5 sacks.
“He did everything we asked, and he’s a great leader,” coach Kirby Smart said. “He’s going to be a really good NFL player for somebody.”
Christen Miller, DT, redshirt junior
Miller has an engaging personality like former Georgia defensive lineman Jordan Davis, but he didn’t flash as much on the field as first-round interior linemen Davis, Jalen Carter and Devonte Wyatt before him. The 6-foot-4, 321-pound Miller is a run stuffer who had 64 tackles, 11.5 tackles for loss and four sacks the last three seasons.
Zachariah Branch, WR, junior
The USC transfer made his impact felt in his one Georgia season. Branch set the single season reception record for the program with 81 catches for 811 yards and 6 touchdowns. His size (5-foot-8 1/2, 177-pound) may keep some teams away, but Branch can be an electric player with the ball in his hands and offers experience as a return man for punts and kickoffs.
Oscar Delp, TE, senior
Delp was on the field a lot for a Georgia team that leaned into multiple tight end sets, but wanted to show in the pre-draft process he shouldn’t be pigeon-holed as a blocking tight end despite not putting up big numbers in the passing game. He had 70 catches for 854 yards and 9 touchdowns in four seasons
