The Georgia Bulldogs have landed elite four-star safety Seth Williams in the 2027 recruiting class.
The Georgia Bulldogs have landed four-star safety Seth Williams from Lakeside High School in Atlanta, adding a key piece to their 2027 recruiting class. Williams, a 6’1, 190-pound defensive back, carries an 89.33 composite rating in the Rivals industry rankings.
He is a top-300 player nationally, the No. 25 safety in the country, and the No. 22 player in Georgia. The commitment came as a legitimate surprise. Williams took three visits to Clemson, two to Georgia Tech, and one each to West Virginia, Vanderbilt, Florida, and Georgia.
Prediction models had him at an 85.6% chance to pick Clemson, while Georgia sat at just 3.7%. That single visit to Athens beating out three trips to Clemson has to mean something. Travaris Robinson and Andrew Thecker led the recruiting effort for the Bulldogs, and their pitch clearly resonated.
What Williams means for Georgia’s 2027 class
Georgia is getting a player it probably needs in this 2027 recruiting class. With Williams on board, the Bulldogs now have 20 commits, including two five-stars and eight four-stars, good for the No. 14 class in the country and No. 7 in the SEC.
Williams also gives Georgia a strong safety duo alongside Adrian Cole, a four-star with a 91.64 composite rating and the No. 12 player at his position nationally. The back end of the secondary is starting to take shape.
Cornerback remains a glaring hole
However, there is a significant gap still staring at Kirby Smart and his staff. Georgia does not have a single cornerback committed in this 2027 recruiting class. Smart is known for recruiting elite secondary talent, but the last few weeks have seen the Bulldogs focusing on offensive linemen, defensive linemen, and linebackers.
Now the priority needs to shift. With many programs starting to wrap up their classes, Georgia still feels like it has considerable work to do at cornerback.
Looking ahead to 2028
A lot of programs are already making moves in the 2028 recruiting cycle, with some schools holding a handful of commitments. Georgia has just two players committed for 2028: Five-star quarterback Jayden Wade and four-star tight end Asa Wall.
Once the Bulldogs can address remaining needs in the 2027 class, they can start going all out in 2028 as well. Landing Seth Williams certainly helps clear the path to do that.
