The Georgia Bulldogs haven’t been the best recruiting team in the 2027 recruiting cycle.

The Georgia Bulldogs have been doing one thing badly lately in their recruiting, something that shouldn’t be happening as often as it seems to have happened to them. When you’re in an elite football state, you’re going to lose elite in-state talent to elite schools.

However, the Bulldogs have lost far too many in the 2027 recruiting class. They have a chance to end that streak somewhat soon, but they have to beat Clemson. According to Rivals, three-star safety Seth Williams from Atlanta, Georgia, is set to announce his school commitment soon. Georgia and Clemson are the two schools remaining.

For Georgia, they’re trying to get another elite in-state talent. Williams is a four-star on 247Sports’ database and the No. 25 safety in the country. Williams is 6’1, 190 pounds, and certainly has the tools to play under Kirby Smart. However, he may have already spilled the beans on which school has the edge in his decision, as things currently stand.

Safety Seth Williams has Clemson ahead due to playing time

“They’re similar, but they are different at the same time,” he told Rivals. “Those differences are what really set the edge when it’s time to make a decision. For Clemson, the opportunity to make an early impact stands out. I like their safety room.

“I feel like I can go in and play early in that room and be a contributor to that team. Georgia’s about elite development and constant competition. They prepare guys not only for the short term but for the long term. They’re always going to have somebody you can compete with. It’s a dog-eat-dog world, and I like that.”

And if he does have Clemson ahead because he could likely play there earlier, you really can’t fault him. Nowadays, guys want to play as soon as they can, and that’s fine. Williams could pick Clemson because of that. But that doesn’t mean Georgia has lost, or Williams can’t come around on them.
