The Georgia Bulldogs are finally getting some momentum in their recruiting trail. They earned two commitments on Sunday afternoon, including three-star wide receiver Taurean Rawlins. Rawlins chose the Bulldogs over the Ohio State Buckeyes, according to 247Sports.
Rawlins is a three-star prospect from the class of 2027. The 6-foot, 175-pound wide receiver plays high school football for Mount Vernon Presbyterian in Atlanta, Georgia. He is the No. 53 wide receiver prospect in the nation.
“I know (receivers coach James Coley) definitely expressed his interest, if not the most, out of all the coaches,” Rawlins disclosed to UGASports after his first visit to Athens in April. “So I mean, Coach Coley has definitely just been straightforward with me. He wants me to play for him, and he’s very interested in me as a player.”
Rawlins profiles as more of a Z-type of receiver, with a similar build to Ladd McConkey and Talyn Taylor.
Georgia now has 12 recruits in their class, with Rawlins being the only wide receiver commitment. Georgia also has tight end Jaxon Dollar, who is the No. 2 TE in the nation. Still, they have just the No. 21 recruiting class in the nation.
They’re trying to bulk up their receiver class, though. They had an official visit with Penn State commit Jamir Dean, and three-star WR Majay Thompson is projected to commit to Georgia football. Overall, James Coley is doing some work in trying to maintain the longevity of Georgia’s receiving core, and June is going to be a big month for him and the rest of Georgia’s recruiting team.
