Elo Modozie’s decision to transfer from Army to Georgia football was viewed by some as one of the most significant portal additions last year.
The outside linebacker is headed back into the portal after a quiet 2025 season with the Bulldogs.
Modozie posted about his move on an Instagram story on his personal account on Sunday Jan. 11.
Modozie spoke about his transition to Georgia before the Sugar Bowl.
“It’s all been a blessing,” he told the Athens Banner-Herald. “Every day is like a different day. The military aspect coming from Army, waking up wearing the uniform, being in the SEC is a big jump. I pray every day, and I’m blessed and excited to be here.”
He said at the time that “I’m definitely not someone that’s going to jump around. Once I’m sticking to somebody, I’m sticking to somebody. It’s hard to say that coming from Army, but at the same time I trust what plan Georgia has for me and I’m really happy here.”
Modozie is entering the portal with a do not contact tag, according to Hayes Fawcett of On3. That indicates he may know his destination already.
The 6-foot-4, 248-pound Modozie had 7 tackles in 13 games with a half a tackle for loss but no sacks. Three of those tackles came in the 39-34 loss to Ole Miss in the Sugar Bowl. He played in a season-high 19 snaps in that game, per PFF.
Modozie said going from the AAC to the SEC was “a big jump,” and he wanted to improve on his strength this offseason.
The Jacksonville native had 6.5 sacks and 40 tackles in 2024 at Army.
Georgia already saw outside linebacker Kris Jones enter the transfer portal. He is heading to Boston College.
