Georgia football is adding a 2026 high school quarterback for next season after all.
Oregon signee Bryson Beaver, who enrolled in the Big Ten school, committed to the Bulldogs out of the transfer portal on Friday night Jan. 16. Beaver posted about his decision on his Instagram account.
Beaver looked for another school after starting quarterback Dante Moore announced he was returning next season rather than enter the NFL Draft and the Ducks added former Georgia commitment and five-star Dylan Raiola as a transfer from Nebraska.
The 6-foot-2, 200-pound Beaver is a four-star quarterback from Vista Murrieta High in Murrieta, Calif., who was ranked No. 12 at the position nationally by the 247Sports Composite.
Georgia had a commitment from 5-star quarterback Jared Curtis, but he flipped to Vanderbilt before signing day.
Beaver will join a quarterback room that includes redshirt senior Gunner Stockton, redshirt sophomore Ryan Puglisi, redshirt freshman Ryan Montgomery and redshirt freshman Hezekiah Millender.
Beaver completed 153 of 237 passes for 1,753 yards and 18 touchdowns last season and had a pair of rushing touchdowns. As a junior, he completed 229 of 345 passes for 3,214 yards and 33 touchdowns with six interceptions and rushed for 411 yards on 58 carries with two touchdowns.
“This is a guy that obviously got really hot towards the end and had a lot of opportunities and places that he could go,” Oregon coach Dan Lanning said, according to the Oregonian, after he signed. “But you fall in love with the family. Bryson’s got an unbelievable group around him. And then you really get to recognize the arm talent, the things that exist there that are gonna be beneficial.
“And a piece you want in your program. Then the ability to mentally handle the load we ask our quarterbacks to handle.”
