The Georgia Bulldogs are among the top-four schools for five-star safety recruit Chance Gilbert, who is a member of the class of 2027. Gilbert visited Georgia for the Alabama game back in September.

Gilbert’s top schools are the Clemson Tigers, Alabama Crimson Tide, Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets and Georgia.

Gilbert plays high school football for East Coweta in Sharpsburg, Georgia. The 5-foot-11, 170-pound safety is ranked as the No. 33 player in the 2027 cycle, per 247Sports. He’s the No. 2 player in Georgia and the third-best safety in the country.

Gilbert is a track and field athlete with elite speed (10.5 time in the 100-meters). He also plays wide receiver and serves as a gadget player for his team.

On tape, Gilbert does a good job of driving on the ball. He is a ballhawk and intercepted a lot of passes during his junior season with East Coweta. The five-star is a threat to return any interception he makes to the house. The defensive back also has the versatility to line up outside and guard players out wide as a cornerback.

Gilbert is capable of delivering big hits and shows off his speed when he plays offense. Opposing defenders look like they’re stuck in mud when trying to chase down Gilbert. Georgia and coach Kirby Smart would love Gilbert’s versatility because he also returns kickoffs at an elite level.
