Five-star running back recruit Kemon Spell has committed to the Georgia Bulldogs after a recent visit to the University of Georgia. Spell is the No. 1 ranked running back in the class of 2027 and was previously committed to the Penn State Nittany Lions.
Some recruiting experts projected Spell to commit to Penn State again after his recent visit with the Nittany Lions. Spell was commmitted to the home-state Nittany Lions until they fired head coach James Franklin. Now, he’s Georgia’s first five-star commitment in the class of 2027.
The 5-foot-9, 205-pound running back plays high school football for McKeesport High School in McKeesport, Pennsylvania. The elite running back is the No. 7 prospect in the 2027 recruit cycle and the top recruit in Pennsylvania.
On film, the McKeesport star has outstanding agility and runs with elite balance. Spell has great speed and is capable of ripping off long runs. Spell committed to Georgia over Penn State, Miami, USC, Notre Dame and Ohio State.
Spell’s commitment raises Georgia’s class of 2027 to No. 6 in the nation. He is Georgia’s sixth commitment and the Dawgs’ first running back commitment.
How Georgia football social media reacted to Spell’s commitment
Kirby Smart’s classic message always hits
Go Dawgs !!
— Coach Kirby Smart (@KirbySmartUGA) February 2, 2026
Smart and Georgia are expected to finish with the No. 6 recruiting class in the 2026 cycle, which would be Smart’s worst recruiting finish since his first class at UGA. Smart is undoubtedly looking to reverse that trend.
