The Georgia Bulldogs lost a 39-34 heartbreaker in the Sugar Bowl to the Ole Miss Rebels. Georgia blew a nine-point halftime lead and lose a game after leading entering the fourth quarter for the first time in 75 games.

Georgia's loss means the Bulldogs' 2025 season fate was the same as the 2024 team. Both years, Georgia won the SEC championship, but lost in quarterfinals of the College Football Playoff.

Georgia held a 21-12 halftime lead over Ole Miss, which was fueled by a pair of Gunner Stockton rushing touchdowns and a Daylen Everette fumble return for a touchdown. The Bulldogs started the second half a bit slow and Ole Miss quarterback Trinidad Chambliss heated up. Chambliss completed a Sugar Bowl record 13 straight passes at one point as the Rebels had a 22-3 scoring run in the second half.

Georgia quarterback Gunner Stockton did not quit and the Bulldogs mounted a comeback to tie things up at 34 with under a minute to go. However, Georgia's final offensive drive (with much time left) failed to score a touchdown, which would've given UGA a lead. Chambliss then connected with wide receiver De'Zhaun Stribling on a deep pass over cornerback Demello Jones to set up a field goal attempt, which Lucas Carneiro nailed with a few seconds remaining. Georgia had a safety on one of the games' final plays to make the final score 39-34.

Georgia fans saw a lot of close wins this season, but the Dawgs' magic ran out in New Orleans.
