The Georgia Bulldogs recruiting staff just got good news. Georgia flipped JUCO cornerback Alius Mayo from the California Bears.

Mayo was originally a class of 2024 recruit who went the JUCO route at Modesto College in California. He's ranked as a four-star prospect, the number one JUCO player in the country, and also the number one cornerback. He has over 10 offers from schools like Alabama, Kentucky, Houston, and others.

He was offered by Cal in June of this year and also went there for an official visit in the same month. Mayo committed to the Golden Bears in August, but he officially visited the Bulldogs last week, on Sept. 26, and flipped his commitment three days later.

In 2025 at Modesto, Mayo logged 30 tackles, one interception, and five pass breakups in 11 games. At 6-foot-4, 190 pounds, Mayo excels at press coverage and can run with fast receivers downfield. He's around the ball a lot on defense and a willing tackler. Mayo play early for the Bulldogs and learn from a secondary that already has so much talent in the group.

Mayo is Georgia's first commitment from a cornerback in the class of 2027. The Bulldogs are also trying to land recent decommitment Preston Glasco. UGA has 21 commitments in the 2027 recruiting cycle and the No. 9 recruiting class in the nation.
