The Georgia football team has done very well under head coach Kirby Smart in recent years. As a result, the Bulldogs usually land highly-touted players on the recruiting trail. That trend continues on Sunday.
Georgia got the commitment of 340-pound offensive tackle DJ Dotson, per Rivals. Dotson chose Georgia over Georgia Tech, LSU and plenty of other schools.
“Go Dawgs baby,” Dotson said to the outlet about his commitment.
The future Georgia offensive lineman is a member of the Class of 2027. Ole Miss, Nebraska and Mississippi State had also offered him a scholarship.
“Georgia is known for producing offensive linemen,” Dotson said to Rivals. “They’re known for putting O-linemen in the draft every year. Georgia is obviously one of the most winning programs in college football right now, too, so they are up there for me.”
Dotson is from the state of Mississippi. The massive lineman is ready to get things started in Athens.
“Development is high on my list,” Dotson recently said. “I want to go where they put guys into the NFL. I want to play for a coach who can develop me. Relationships, NIL, a chance to play and other things I consider, but development is very important.”
According to On3, Georgia football currently has four offensive linemen committed in the 2027 class. Time will tell how the rest of the recruiting class takes shape in the months ahead.
During the 2025 football season, Georgia made it to the College Football Playoff once again. The Bulldogs ended up losing to Ole Miss in the Sugar Bowl.
Georgia football opens their 2026 season with a game against Tennessee State. That game is set for September 5th.
