The Georgia Bulldogs are filing a lawsuit against one of their premier transfers from 2025. They’re suing Missouri edge rusher Damon Wilson II for $390,000 due to transferring to the Missouri Tigers, according to Dan Murphy of ESPN.

The lawsuit is due to the details of a contract Wilson II signed with Classic City Collective in Dec. 2024, before the Bulldogs lost in the College Football Playoff quarterfinal vs. Notre Dame. The contract was supposed to pay him a total of $500,000 split in increments of $30,000 a month and a bonus $40,000 after the transfer portal window closed, which would’ve rewarded Wilson II for not transferring.

Unfortunately, one month after the deal, Wilson II hit the transfer portal. According to ESPN, the deal has a buyout clause that states that if he were to hit the transfer portal at any point, he would owe the collective, who assigned over their rights to UGA athletic department, the rest of the money he would’ve gotten from the contract (not including each $40,000 payment after a transfer portal closing). As a result, the Bulldogs are asking for $390,000 from Wilson II.

He transferred out of Georgia to Missouri on Jan. 14, 2025, partially due to a family connection. Wilson II was ranked as a five-star transfer. He’s been a stud ever since joining Missouri, racking up nine sacks, which is third in the SEC. If he was still on Georgia’s roster, the Bulldogs would be a lot more balanced defensively to start the season and potentially have a better chance at winning a national championship.

“After all the facts come out, people will be shocked at how the University of Georgia treated a student athlete,” Wilson II’s attorney, Bogdan Susan said in a statement. “It has never been about the money for Damon, he just wants to play the game he loves and pursue his dream of playing in the NFL.”

“When the University of Georgia Athletic Association enters binding agreements with student-athletes, we honor our commitments and expect student-athletes to do the same,” Georgia athletics spokesperson Steven Drummond said.
