The pieces of the 2026 Georgia football team will come together in the months ahead. This is your one-stop spot for player movement in and out of the transfer portal, NFL Draft declarations and coaching staff changes.

Georgia won its second straight SEC championship and returned to the College Football Playoff. The Bulldogs finished 12-2 after a Sugar Bowl loss to Ole Miss.

Check back here in the lead up to the 2026 season — Kirby Smart’s 11th as Bulldogs coach — for all offseason movement. The transfer portal opens on Jan. 2 and closes on Jan. 16.

Georgia RB Nate Frazier posts he’s returning for junior season

After a weekend when Nate Frazier’s future stirred up a lot of chatter, the sophomore running back took to social media on Monday afternoon, Jan. 12, and posted a video indicating he’s returning after all.

His agent, Sam Leaf, told ESPN’s Pete Thamel that Frazier signed a new deal with Georgia for 2026.

Frazier led Georgia in rushing last season with 947 yards and 6 touchdowns.

The Compton, Calif., native will headline a Bulldogs running back group that will include Chauncey Bowens and Kentucky transfer Donte Dowdell.

Offensive tackle Monroe Freeling declares for the NFL Draft

Junior offensive tackle Monroe Freeling, who held down the left tackle spot this season and the final five games of last season, has declared for the NFL Draft.

Georgia adds Kentucky RB Dante Dowdell from transfer portal

Dante Dowdell is transferring to Georgia, his fourth school in four seasons. He most recently was at Kentucky where he was the Wildcats second leading rusher.

Dowdell will provide a big back in the rotation at 6-foot-2 and 227 pounds. Here’s our story on him.

Chauncey Bowens posts he’s not on the move

Georgia fans apparently won’t have to worry about running back Chauncey Bowens entering the transfer portal.

The Bulldogs second leading rusher’s post on Instagram on Monday Jan. 12 indicates he’s sticking around.

“Year 3. Let’s run it back.”

Bowens, from Port St. Lucie, Fla., rushed for 526 yards and 6 touchdowns this past season as redshirt freshman in 12 games, starting 3.

Elo Modozie heading back into transfer portal

Elo Modozie transferred from Army to Georgia last offseason. Now, he’s going back in the transfer portal after a quiet one season with the Bulldogs.

Peyton Woodring returning for final season in 2026

Even kickers are announcing their intentions to bypass the NFL Draft.

Peyton Woodring announced his decision on X, formerly Twitter.

He was ranked the No. 3 overall specialist and No. 2 kicker by ESPN’s Mel Kiper among draft prospects.

The junior was 17 of 19 on field goals this past season with a long of 53, made all 54 extra points and had 61 touchbacks on 84 kickoffs.

The All-SEC second-team selection is 59 of 67 on field goals in three college seasons.

Georgia DE Gabe Harris firms up plans to return

Georgia defensive end Gabe Harris said before the Sugar Bowl to On3 that he would return for the 2026 season, but announced that was the case again on Friday in a social media post.

The junior from Thomasville had 26 tackles, 6 1/2 tackles for loss and a sack in 13 games this past season. He missed the Sugar Bowl with a turf toe injury.

East Carolina safety Ja’Marley Riddle commits to Georgia

Georgia is taking steps to bring in more playmakers in the secondary. The latest is safety Ja’Marley Riddle who led East Carolina in tackles last season.

Auburn pass rusher Amaris Williams third defensive transfer

Georgia has added a third defensive player to this transfer class with a commitment from Auburn pass rusher Amaris Williams.

The Bulldogs needed help getting to the quarterback and Williams is a young player who could help who already showed flashes in the SEC.

Georgia safety Adrian Maddox plans to enter transfer portal

Adrian Maddox, who transferred to Georgia last offseason from UAB, plans to enter the transfer portal, his agent Ian Johnson confirmed to the Athens Banner-Herald

Maddox played in four games this past season including in the Sugar Bowl where he made a fourth-quarter tackle on a pass play. The Conyers native had 4 tackles including one for loss on the season.

USC cornerback Braylon Conley joining Georgia out of portal

Georgia added a couple of transfers from Southern Cal last offseason in Zachariah and Zion Branch.

Now it has landed a commitment from USC cornerback Braylon Conley.

The 6-foot, 180-pound Houston native had 13 tackles including two for loss as a redshirt freshman this season with a pass breakup and forced fumble

The former four-star recruit in the 2024 class started two games this past season, against Georgia State and Iowa and had a season-high 6 tackles against Northwestern.

Conley, who posted about his decision on Instagram, joins a Georgia secondary that is losing starting cornerback Daylen Everette.

Georgia Tech WR Isiah Canion is second new portal addition

Georgia fans got a chance to see Isiah Canion against the Bulldogs in the regular season finale in Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Now the Georgia Tech wide receiver has jumped to the other side of the in-state rivalry via the transfer portal.

Georgia reserve DB entering transfer portal

Ondre Evans, a redshirt freshman from Franklin, Tenn., is entering the transfer portal, according to On3.

Evans did not see action in his two seasons with the Bulldogs. He underwent ACL surgery last spring.

The 6-foot, 195-pound Evans is a former four-star prospect from the 2024 class.

Defensive lineman announces he’s returning in 2026

Defensive lineman Xzavier McLeod, who started six games last season as a redshirt sophomore, posted on Instagram he’s returning to the Bulldogs in 2026.

The 6-foot-4, 315-pound McLeod had 17 tackles and 2 pass breakups in his second Georgia season. The Camden. S.C, native had 13 tackles in 2024 after transferring from South Carolina.

Nickel back Joenel Aguero set to enter transfer portal

Junior Joenel Aguero, who started at nickel back for the first 12 games of the 2025 season, plans to enter the transfer portal.

The Lynn, Mass., native posted the news on his Instagram account.

Aguero was replaced in the starting lineup in the SEC Championship game and the Sugar Bowl by true freshman Rasean Dinkins. Coach Kirby Smart said Aguero was dealing with a wrist injury.

Aguero started 17 games the last two seasons. He had 39 tackles and an interception this year and 26 tackles in 2024.

Augero was the No. 37 overall prospect in the 2023 class by the 247Sports Composite.

Raylen Wilson is returning to Georgia football in 2026

Georgia’s defense will have one of its top players back in 2026 after junior linebacker Raylen Wilson announced he’s returning for a final season.

Backup offensive lineman Bo Hughley entering transfer portal

Offensive tackle Bo Hughley, a redshirt sophomore from Fairburn, is entering the transfer portal, he posted on his X account, formerly Twitter, on Tuesday.

The 6-foot-7, 295-pound Hughley played mostly in a backup role this season, but started at right tackle for an injured Earnest Greene against Alabama and at left tackle for an injured Monroe Freeling against Auburn. He did not play in the final three games of the season including the Sugar Bowl.

Two Georgia football juniors declare for the NFL Draft

Wide receiver Zachariah Branch and inside linebacker CJ Allen have each declared for the NFL Draft.

The announcements by the juniors were expected after Branch set a Georgia record for pass catches in a season and Allen was an All-American while leading the SEC champions in tackles.

They are the second and third underclassmen from Georgia to declare after defensive lineman Christen Miller.

Georgia football adding first transfer of cycle in Clemson safety

Georgia may have found an experienced safety to pair with KJ Bolden in the secondary.

Former North Oconee standout Khalil Barnes announced Jan. 4 that he plans to transfer from Clemson.

Barnes was a freshman All-American in 2023 and started 30 games over three seasons.

Georgia defensive lineman Christen Miller declares for NFL Draft

Redshirt junior defensive lineman Christen Miller became the first player from the 2025 Bulldogs to declare for the NFL Draft.

The Cedar Grove High product started 24 games for the Bulldogs. The 6-foot-4, 310-pounder had 23 tackles including four for loss this season with 1.5 sacks.

First Georgia football staff movement of this cycle

Two Georgia football support staff members are moving to become position coaches at other schools.

Player connection coordinator David Hill confirmed to the Athens Banner-Herald he will be running backs coach at Colorado State. Former UConn coach Jim Mora is the new coach at Colorado State.

The offensive coordinator at Colorado State is Pryce Tracy who was assistant tight ends coach at Georgia from 2022-24. Hill’s hire was first reported by CBSSports.com.

Hill has been at Georgia since 2022. He arrived from Desert Pines High in Las Vegas where he was an assistant coach at the same school where former Georgia tight end Darnell Washington played.

The other staffer leaving Georgia is David Metcalf, a defensive assistant quality control coach. He is the new safeties coach at Western Kentucky, according to his bio on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Western Kentucky went 9-4 this season under coach Tyson Helton.

LB Kris Jones, safety Jaden Harris entering transfer portal

Three more Georgia football players are entering the transfer portal.

That includes redshirt freshman linebacker Kris Jones who shifted from inside to outside linebacker this season. Jones announced his decision on X, formerly Twitter.

The 6-foot-2, 230-pound former four-star prospect from Stafford, Va., played in every game this season, making seven tackles with five quarterback pressures. He redshirted last season after undergoing surgery on his foot as a senior in high school.

Reserve safety Jaden Harris is also entering the portal, according to Pete Nakos of On3.

The redshirt junior transfer from Miami saw action in nine games, making six tackles. The Atlanta native who played at Riverwood High started at Miami last season when he had 40 tackles and an interception.

Dismissed offensive lineman Niyer Daniels also entered the transfer portal, according to 247Sports. He was arrested in November on 13 charges including felony fleeing from a police officer,

He played in three games this season before he was removed from the team.

Defensive lineman Jordan Thomas set to enter transfer portal

A second reserve Georgia football player has announced plans to enter the transfer portal the morning after the Bulldogs season ended.

Redshirt freshman defensive lineman Jordan Thomas, a 6-foot-5, 315-pounder from Hackensack, N.J., is entering the portal, he told Hayes Fawcett of On3.

Thomas did not play in the Sugar Bowl loss to Ole Miss on Thursday night. He had 2 tackles in 5 games this season and six tackles and a sack in eight games over two seasons with the Bulldogs.

Georgia running back Roderick Robinson hitting transfer portal

Friday, Jan. 2: Reserve running back Roderick Robinson is entering the transfer portal, he posted on his Instagram account.

The redshirt sophomore from San Diego rushed for 22 yards on 6 carries this season and made his biggest play on a 1-yard touchdown catch against Alabama in the SEC championship game. He played in 10 games including the 39-34 Sugar Bowl loss to Ole Miss on Thursday but did not get a carry in that game.

The 6-foot-1, 235-pound Robinson had 221 rushing yards and 2 touchdowns on 34 carries as Bulldog.

What Georgia football players are in transfer portal?

CB Daniel Harris: The junior cornerback announced on Nov. 30 intentions to enter the transfer portal in January.

TE Pearce Spurlin: After taking a medical disqualification following the 2023 season, Spurlin now is cleared to play and announced on Dec. 9 he plans to resume his college football career elsewhere.

RB Roderick Robinson: The redshirt sophomore announced his decision to enter the transfer portal on the morning of Jan. 2, the day after Georgia’s season ended with a Sugar Bowl loss.

DL Jordan Thomas: The redshirt freshman’s move to the transfer portal was revealed on Jan. 2, the day after the Sugar Bowl loss. He’s a former four-star prospect.

LB Kris Jones: The redshirt freshman moved from inside to outside linebacker this season, but got double-digit snaps just five times this season, per PFF. He went in the portal on Jan. 2.

S Jared Harris: The Miami transfer went in the portal on Jan. 2 after one Georgia season as a reserve. He got playing time on defense in four Georgia blowout wins.

OL Nyier Daniels: After being dismissed from the team in November after his arrest in Commerce, Daniels is hoping for a fresh start elsewhere. The Newark, N.J., native entered the portal on Jan. 2.

OB Bo Hughley: The redshirt sophomore backup tackle announced his plans to enter the transfer portal on Jan. 6. He played in 10 games this season–including two starts filling in due to injury–but did not see action in the final three games.

DB Joenel Aguero: Georgia’s secondary lost a player who started in 2025 and was a part-time starter in 2024 when Aguero announced he’s entering the transfer portal. Rasean Dinkins, a true freshman, had come on at the Star position where Aguero manned before a wrist injury.

DB Ondre Evans: Another defensive back is entering the transfer portal. The Tennessee native never played in a game in two Georgia seasons.

S Adrian Maddox: The former UAB and Alabama State safety will transfer with another season of eligibility after seeing action in four games in his only Georgia season. He’s the fifth defensive back from the 2025 team that will enter the portal.

OLB Elo Modozie: The Army transfer had 6.5 sacks in 2024 and was viewed as a player that could help Georgia’s pass rush after the transfer of Damon Wilson. Modozie did not record a sack in his one season with the Bulldogs. Now he’s going back in the portal.

Georgia football transfer additions

S Khalil Barnes, Clemson: The former North Oconee County product will play his fourth college season close to home at Georgia. Barnes addresses a position of need for the Bulldogs. He brings starting experience and productivity that includes being a freshman All-American in 2023.

WR Isiah Canion, Georgia Tech: The Warner Robins product who spent two seasons with the Yellow Jackets is the Bulldogs first transfer portal addition on the offensive side of the ball. He gives the Bulldogs a proven commodity after losing its top three pass-catchers.

CB Braylon Conley, USC: Georgia has another candidate to compete for a starting cornerback job after adding a redshirt freshman from the Trojans who started a couple of games last season. He was recruited to USC by current Georgia defensive backs coach Donte Williams.

Edge Amaris Williams, Auburn: The pass rusher becomes the third transfer commitment on Thursday Jan. 8. Williams had 2 sacks in a backup role this past season as a redshirt freshman.

S Ja’Marley Riddle, East Carolina: The Camden County product is the third defensive back transfer joining the Bulldogs this cycle. Riddle and Clemson transfer Khalil Barnes offer options at safety along with returning starter KJ Bolden.

RB Dante Dowdell, Kentucky: The rising senior brings experience after playing with the Wildcats, Nebraska and Oregon. Georgia went into the portal at the position last year for Josh McCray and the previous year for Trevor Etienne.
