JACKSONVILLE, Fla, — Pour a drink out for the World’s Largest Outdoor Cocktail party, which is closing up shop for a couple of years in Jacksonville after Saturday’s game.
Georgia football’s annual game with Florida will shift to Atlanta in 2026 and Tampa in 2027, but on Nov. 1, the No. 5 Bulldogs and Gators tangle in the familiar confines of what’s now called EverBank Stadium.
“Certainly when I coached here, I appreciated going to Jacksonville,” Former Florida coach Steve Spurrier told the Athens Banner-Herald last month. “It’s in the state of Florida, it was in a stadium called the Gator Bowl. If we didn’t have an advantage there, I don’t know we could ever have a home field advantage in this rivalry.”
Georgia has had the upper hand lately, winning the last four and eight of the last nine.
“Every year we go and play in it, it’s very different from the SEC home-away atmosphere,” Georgia coach Kirby Smart said of the 50-50 split in the stadium of Bulldog and Gators fans. “It’s kind of weird because it sits right there in the middle, and it can be loud both ways, and it’s kind of a momentum game. Whoever’s crowd is into it at the time or who has the momentum.”
Florida native Chauncey Bowens, a redshirt freshman, will see his first action in the rivalry.
“I know the weight this game has,” said Bowens, a one-time Florida commit. “You dream as a kid being able to play in a game like this.”
