STARKVILLE, Miss. — Georgia football played in two prime-time games this season and four times in the 3:30 p.m. window, but gets its earliest kickoff of the season against Mississippi State.

The 12 p.m. ET start on Saturday Nov. 8 is an 11 a.m. kick local time at Davis Wade Stadium.

“I don’t really mind it because after you play, you get the rest of the day to yourself,” Georgia defensive lineman Joseph Jonah-Ajonye said .”The whole process to that is just making sure you eat good the day before, you get lots of sleep. Make sure your mind is right, your body is right.”

The fifth-ranked Bulldogs from Athens are a marquee opponent.

Mississippi State coach Jeff Lebby wanted to make sure fans in the stands are rooting for his Bulldogs.

So he said he purchased 500 tickets in a stadium with a capacity of 60,311 when he checked and heard there were  “more tickets out than maybe we would all like.”

He said a couple of players on the team were also buying tickets for youth in the area.

The get in-price on SeatGeek on Thursday was only $35.

“We need 60,000 shaking cowbells and having as rowdy an atmosphere as there is in the country,” Lebby said. “We got a top five football team coming into our place, and it needs to be as electric an atmosphere as there is in college football. We have the ability to do that. We know that but we need that.”

Georgia is seeking a return trip to the College Football Playoff. Mississippi State is a win away from being bowl-eligible.

“We want to reach a bowl game as quick as possible,” quarterback Blake Shapen said.

Georgia has gotten used to being in tight SEC games. It’s one early kick this season against Kentucky was the outlier.

“The objective is to dominate them, and there’s no scoreboard when you start talking about dominating somebody,” coach Kirby Smart said. “You look at it at the end of the day and see if you did. We haven’t done that very often in terms of dominating the way we want to, but we’ll continue to try to.”
