NEW ORLEANS — Zachariah Branch has broken the Georgia single-season receptions record.
The former four-star transfer has become a critical part of the Bulldogs' offense during the 2025 season, getting 10 starts in 13 games, and now, in his first College Football Playoff game, he's made school history.
The 5-foot-10 junior entered Thursday’s Sugar Bowl game vs. Ole Miss needing four receptions to surpass the late Brice Hunter's record of 76, set in 1993.
Redshirt junior quarterback Gunner Stockton passed 2 yards to the right on a second-and-12 to Branch with 58 seconds remaining in the second quarter to help Branch etch himself into the Georgia record book.
In his two seasons at USC, Branch has combined for 78 catches, 823 yards and 3 touchdowns. He came into the Sugar Bowl with 73 catches for 744 yards and 5 touchdowns.
Branch was named to the All-SEC Second Team as a wide receiver in 2025, averaging 5.6 receptions per game.
Georgia was leading Ole Miss 21-12 at the time Branch broke the single-season record. The catch took him to 19 yards in the game.
