The No. 5 Georgia Bulldogs are 6-1 with an upcoming matchup against the unranked Florida Gators. Their only loss came to the Alabama Crimson Tide back in Week 5.
With five regular-season games remaining, Georgia continues its search for an SEC title and national championship. Despite being focused on the season, head coach Kirby Smart keeps an eye on the future.
Recruiting has been a big part of the Bulldogs’ dominance under Smart. Their 2026 recruiting class already has 30 commitments, ranking No. 1 in the SEC and No. 2 in the nation.
Despite many of the top players in the 2026 cycle already committing, Smart stays busy, looking for potential flips.
That continues to pay off. On Friday, Rivals’ Hayes Fawcett reported that Georgia flipped junior-college offensive tackle Jarmaine Mitchell, who has been committed to the Mississippi State Bulldogs since Aug. 11.
“BREAKING: Elite JUCO OT Jarmaine Mitchell has Flipped his Commitment from Mississippi State to Georgia, he tells me for @rivals The 6’8 310 OT had been Committed to Mississippi State since August He’s ranked as the No. 1 JUCO OT (per Rivals Industry),” Fawcett wrote.

Among junior-college recruits, Rivals Industry Rankings place Mitchell as a four-star prospect, the No. 1 offensive tackle and the No. 7 player in the nation. He played the 2025 season at Copiah-Lincoln Community College.
According to 247Sports, the pass protector received an offer from the Bulldogs on Sept. 6 and took an official visit in Athens on Sept. 26. Georgia suffered its loss to Alabama while he was in town.
With another recruiting win under their belt, the Bulldogs have a chance to improve to 5-1 in SEC matchups against the Gators (3-4, 2-2 SEC). Kickoff Saturday is at 3:30 p.m. ET at Jacksonville’s EverBank Stadium, airing on ABC.
