The Georgia Bulldogs are headed into the season now in just a few short weeks after successfully making it through the offseason and now putting the pads on for fall camp.

As far as SEC schedules go, the Dawgs actually got let off pretty easy this year as they pursue a third straight conference title and hopefully a much deeper playoff run than the last three years. A trip to Atlanta is going to be the primary goal every year and finishing in the top-two in the conference, and on the surface, there's not much that is going to trip them up.

Road trips to Oxford and Tuscaloosa to face Ole Miss and Alabama instantly stand out, but other than that, Georgia should feel pretty good on paper about each game. There's one showdown early on though that not many fans are worried about but perhaps they should be when the Bulldogs host the Oklahoma Sooners to cap off the first month of the season.

Georgia Hosts Oklahoma in Week 4 After Big Year for Sooners

Oklahoma was able to get to the College Football Playoff last year, so the conference is not taking them lightly, but there was a lot of issues for them down the stretch. John Mateer was not the same player he was before a thumb surgery cost him a chunk of the season, and he struggled mightily after returning as did the offense as a whole.

That factor plus the game being at home has a whole lot of Bulldogs fans glossing over this one, but a closer look is needed here. With a ton of returning talent not to mention a Brent Venables scheme, the Sooners might have one of the best defenses in the nation and are absolutely capable of making Gunner Stockton uncomfortable.

An early turnover could absolutely set the tone here for Oklahoma to be in this game, and if Mateer can get back to form from his first month of last season, this could absolutely be a scary team.

With some big rivalry games coming up to start the following month including Vanderbilt, Alabama and Auburn, it would be easy to dismiss the Sooners and look to the next week, but it would be extremely foolish to overlook this team.

The Sanford Stadium factor should prevent an upset here, but Kirby Smart must have this team ready for battle when Oklahoma comes to town.
