Georgia Named Candidate for 1,200-Yard Transfer Portal WR

The No. 3 seed Georgia Bulldogs will take on the No. 6 Ole Miss Rebels in the Allstate Sugar Bowl on New Year’s Day. While striving for the program’s fifth national championship, the Bulldogs must also keep up with roster changes around college football.

The transfer portal is open from Jan. 2-16. With the National Championship Game set for Jan. 19, the teams that make it will be playing through the entire window. Last offseason, Georgia was active in the portal, bringing in 10 players.

According to On3, nearly 1,200 players are already intent on entering the transfer portal this offseason. The Bulldogs have been linked to several of them, including a talented wide receiver.

In an article from On3’s Pete Nakos, he lists Georgia as one team to watch for UAB Blazers wide receiver Iverson Hooks. Over the past four seasons, he’s racked up 97 receptions, 1,225 yards and 10 touchdowns.

“The UAB transfer wideout is expected to be one of the top receivers on the market this winter,” Nakos wrote. “Among the early schools in the mix are LSU, Wisconsin, Auburn, Virginia, Florida State, Oklahoma State, Iowa State, Houston, Arkansas, UConn, Georgia and Florida, sources have indicated to On3.”

Hooks’ most productive season came in 2025, hitting career highs in receptions (72), yards (927) and touchdowns (seven). Coming out of high school, he was a three-star recruit and the No. 1,790 prospect in the nation, per Rivals Industry Rankings.

Standing at 5-foot-10 and weighing 175 pounds, Hooks will have two more years of eligibility for whichever program he lands with.

As for Georgia, it kicks off against Ole Miss on Friday at 8 p.m. ET at the Superdome in New Orleans, airing on ESPN. The winner moves on to the semifinals in the Fiesta Bowl on Jan. 8.
