The Georgia Bulldogs are headed into the regular season with the hope of getting back to the College Football Playoff and potentially making a deep run once they do get there.

Despite the last two years ending in back-to-back SEC titles, they have also came with losses in the first playoff game for the Dawgs, and fans are ready to make a run at a national title once again. Before doing anything like that though, Georgia needs to run through its SEC gauntlet, and while it's not as tough as years past, there are difficult games as always.

One game which has been a bit tougher in recent years has been the rivalry showdown against the Florida Gators. As the Gators enter a new era under a new head coach in Jon Sumrall, being able to beat the Bulldogs is going to be just the huge statement they are looking for. Now, Sumrall has decided who is going to be running his offense.

Florida Names Georgia Tech Transfer Aaron Philo as Starter

When Sumrall was hired, he brought along another rival in Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets offensive coordinator Buster Faulkner, which in turn led to their backup, Bogart, GA native Aaron Philo, committing to come too and compete for the starting job.

Now, Philo has won the job and gives the Gators their first quarterback of the new era, which means Georgia likely has a pretty good idea what they are going to see. Haynes King gave the Bulldogs plenty of trouble over the last two years, and while Philo is more of a traditional passer than the man he backed up in King, the presence of Faulkner as well makes for an interesting Florida offense the Dawgs will be going up against.

Philo was not a highly rated recruit out of high school as a three-star, but learning in an ascending Georgia Tech program over the last two years make him potentially dangerous after a decorated high school career that saw him break some state passing records.

At the end of the day, the Gators were going to take another step this season no matter who the quarterback was and the Georgia game will always be a huge showdown. However, now that Philo has won the job, Bulldogs fans will be keeping a close eye on him to start the season to see what kind of challenge they will be up against on October 31.
