Georgia Receives Transfer Portal News After Zachariah Branch Decision

The Georgia Bulldogs saw their season come to an end this past Thursday, losing a 39-34 thriller to the Ole Miss Rebels in the College Football Playoff quarterfinal at the Sugar Bowl.

With the season coming to a close, Kirby Smart and the Dawgs are fully focused on bolstering the roster for next season’s title push. That task got a bit more difficult following the Monday announcement of Zachariah Branch, who revealed that he will be declaring for the 2026 NFL Draft.

The USC transfer and former No. 5 overall recruit in the class of 2023 had the best season of his college career this year. He racked up 81 catches for 811 yards and six touchdowns, which ended up being more catches (78) and touchdowns (3) than he had in his two seasons at USC combined.

With Branch no longer in the fold, the Bulldogs need to secure a target for Gunner Stockton to throw to in 2026, and they may be adding someone from one of their biggest rivals.

As revealed by On3’s Steve Wiltfong, the Bulldogs are expected to host Georgia Tech wide receiver transfer Isiah Canion for a visit on Tuesday.

“On3 has learned that former Georgia Tech receiver Isiah Canion will be in Athens,” wrote Wiltfong. “Kirby Smart and his staff are pushing hard to add the Peach State native to the fold.”

Standing in at 6-foot-4, the Warner Robins product racked up 33 catches for 480 yards and four touchdowns this season for the Yellow Jackets. A versatile athlete, Canion played quarterback and defensive back in high school and also served as the long snapper.

Adding him could help the Bulldogs rebuild what could be one of the best wide receiver corps in the country.

Rivals ranks him as the No. 81 player in the portal and No. 18 wide receiver.
