Georgia football handled Vanderbilt in a 38-14 victory Saturday in Sanford Stadium.

Some groups exceeded expectations.

Others raised fresh questions heading into next week.

Here's our postgame report card for the Bulldogs.

Offense: C+

Georgia’s longest rush by a running back was 11 yards until late, but the Bulldogs were mostly content to rely on Gunner Stockton and the passing game. He was 25 of 32 for 295 yards and three touchdowns. Thomas Blackshear’s drop ended nine straight completions to start the game for Stockton who thew a 55-yard completion to Landon Roldan on the next possession.

Defense: C+

Georgia gave up a deep ball touchdown when Junior Sherrill got behind safety Rasean Dinkins and had a long day overall against Blaze Berlovitz. Ellis Robinson and Demello Jones had pass interference calls. Berlowitz had success on designed QB runs and scrambles. Gabe Harris got his second sack of the season. Georgia shut out Vanderbilt in the second half.

Special Teams: B

Jordan Hall blocked a 58-yard second quarter field goal try. Drew Miller’s 40-yard punt set Vanderbilt up at the Georgia 42. He had another for 48 yards. Georgia did not record a return yard.

Coaching: B-

Vanderbilt offensive coordinator Tim Beck came up with a game plan for the Commodores backup quarterback that saw big plays downfield in the passing game but Georgia countered at halftime. The Bulldogs didn’t have an answer for athletic quarterback Blaze Berlowitz.

Game MVP: Gunner Stockton

The Georgia quarterback completed 25 of 32 passes for 295 yards and three touchdowns with no interceptions. He also rushed for 22 yards on seven carries.

Overall: B-

Georgia was due for a game like this after rolling over its first five opponents. Give Vanderbilt credit for a gutty showing without starting quarterback Jared Curtis. Georgia’s third down defense (allowing 5 of 12 conversions) needs to be addressed.
