Georgia report card: Grading the Bulldogs after win over Oklahoma

Georgia handled Oklahoma Saturday with a 41-13 victory, but not every unit performed equally well.

The starting defense was on top of its game. The offense had an up and down day. Kicker Peyton Woodring had a strong outing.

Offense: C+

Georgia won by 25 but managed just 307 yards of total offense. Ethan Barbour came up huge with a fourth down catch and then was the fullback out of the I-formation on a Chauncey Bowens TD run. Gunner Stockton completed his first nine passes before two incompletions on miscommunications and finished 14 of 25 for 171 yards with a touchdown and interception. Stockton had a pass tipped by a linebacker in his first pass picked off. Stockton was under pressure too much on throws.

Defense: A

Chris Cole scooped and scored on an 85-yard fumble return for a touchdown. Raylen Wilson pressure helped lead to a KJ Bolden interception. Rasean Dinkins’ punch out for a fumble led to a field goal on a day the Bulldogs defense forced four turnovers. Raylen Wilson had 11 tackles and 1.5 tackles for loss

Special Teams: B+

Peyton Woodring had field goals of 45 and 49 and set an SEC record with 201 straight PATs.

Sacovie White-Helton had a 13-yard punt return. Drew Miller punted two in the end zone, one that drew Kirby Smart’s ire. Miller averaged 49.3 yards on four punts.

Coaching: B+

Kirby Smart made the right call to go for it on 4^th-and-2 at the Sooner 11 in a scoreless game and converted to lead to a TD. The offense averaged 5.8 yards per play but had three pass plays of 30 or more yards.

Game MVP: Chris Cole

The junior linebacker had eight tackles, a sack and two fumble returns including an 85-yard touchdown. His fumble return TD was a momentum-changer with Oklahoma driving.

Overall: A-

Georgia made the big plays to take control of a game against a formidable defense. The Bulldogs won the turnover battle by two. Give an assist to the crowd for two delay of game penalties in the first half. Georgia keeps winning big.
