Georgia Bulldogs signees took over the 6A Georgia state championship game, which many are considering to be the de facto national championship of the 2025 high school football season. Three-star athlete Tyriq Green made the biggest play of the game. He scored on an 82-yard touchdown run with the game tied at 21 with under three minutes left. Green’s touchdown run proved to be the game-winning score for Buford, who defeated Carrollton 28-21.
Before Green’s clutch touchdown run, Georgia three-star offensive line signee Zykie Helton showed off his athleticism on the defensive side of the ball. Helton forced a Buford fumble in the fourth quarter and one of his high school teammates returned it for a touchdown. Helton proved to be very disruptive on defense, but he still projects to be a center or offensive guard for the Dawgs.
Green scored both of Buford’s offensive touchdowns in the state championship. He earned state championship MVP honors for his performance. The Georgia signee had 11 carries for 184 yards and two touchdowns. He also added five tackles on defense.
What’s next for Green? He’s expected to start practice at Georgia on Saturday. Green is an athlete recruit that is expected to play defensive back in college, but could also play running back as he did for Buford.
