Georgia Tech has a problem.

The Yellow Jackets entered 2026 hoping to build off last season and potentially become a legitimate ACC contender.

Instead, they’re 0-1 and already facing a massive game.

Georgia Tech’s 14-13 loss to Colorado was ugly. The offense didn’t score a single touchdown, Tech managed just 51 rushing yards, committed nine penalties and had its potential game-winning field goal blocked.

Brent Key wasn’t hiding from it either.

He described what he saw on film as a poorly prepared, poorly coached, undisciplined and soft football team.

That’s pretty alarming after one game.

And unfortunately, things aren’t getting any easier.

No. 18 Tennessee is coming to Bobby Dodd Stadium.

The Vols just destroyed Furman 56-9, producing 638 yards of offense behind an impressive debut from true freshman quarterback Faizon Brandon.

Georgia Tech cannot play anything like it did against Colorado.

Alberto Mendoza actually showed some encouraging signs in his first start, completing 17 of 23 passes for 237 yards, but the Jackets have to establish a running game and start finishing drives.

Because an 0-2 start would completely change the feeling surrounding this season.

Beat Tennessee, and suddenly the Colorado disaster feels like one terrible night.

Georgia Tech could watch a promising season start falling apart before September is even halfway over.
