The Georgia Bulldogs got their season started off on the right foot yesterday with a 63-3 dismantling of Tennessee State in their season-opening game in front of a warm Sanford Stadium crowd.

Despite the intense heat in Athens and across the country on the first Saturday of the year, the Bulldogs offense looked unbothered and able to do whatever it wanted, taking a 35-0 lead early in the second quarter. Needless to say, Georgia was far superior to its opponent which makes it tough to do any real evaluation, but after waiting all offseason to watch their team, fans are going to have takeaways.

What feels more notable than anything else is the way two of the spring and fall camp darlings — tight end Jaden Reddell and true freshman slot wide receiver Kaiden Prothro — were able to perform.

Reddell and Prothro Each Make Big Plays in Opener

Prothro was always going to be a little bit tougher to get on the field this season as a true freshman who was originally recruited as a tight end in a loaded room there. Though the switch to slot opened up some more opportunity for him, it remains to be seen what his role will be when the games get a little tougher.

Still, he made some noise on his one catch with a 16-yard touchdown.

Reddell meanwhile had two catches for 38 yards and a touchdown, but it was a play that didn't even count that may have been the most insane of the entire day. Despite it being called back by penalty, Reddell's 58-yard touchdown in the third quarter saw him elude at least five defenders and outrun the rest of them, giving Bulldog fans the kind of show they have not seen since a certain legendary tight end before Reddell.

Of course, Reddell is going to have to prove it in non-garbage time that he can get it done, but after being talked about all offseason long, he looks capable of making the kind of plays that not many others in the nation can make.

It's not often a player can see his hype train get out of control based on two plays when one did not even count, but that is the case with Reddell. Fans cannot wait to keep watching him this season and see what he has in store next.

If he can be the kind of weapon he looked like on Saturday, it could mean huge things for this offense.
