Georgia's No. 8 recruit becomes Georgia Tech's highest ranked commit

Four-star offensive tackle recruit Joshua Sam-Epelle has committed to the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. Sam-Epelle chose the Yellow Jackets over the Georgia Bulldogs and Tennessee Volunteers, as the big man received some major interest from Georgia Tech’s in-state rivals despite his commitment decision.
Standing at 6-foot-9, 310 pounds, Sam-Epelle is a massive offensive lineman who start in a college offense as soon as Year 1. Sam-Epelle took an official visit to Georgia on June 5, and the big man has ultimately decided that Georgia Tech is the better fit just over two weeks later. The lineman drew interest from a plethora of teams around the nation prior to his commitment. The Bulldogs and coach Kirby Smart are now forced to turn elsewhere following Sam-Epelle’s announcement.
Sam-Epelle is Georgia Tech and coach Brent Key’s 25th commitment in the 2027 recruiting class. The Yellow Jackets have the No. 22 recruiting class in the nation. Sam-Epelle is Georgia Tech’s highest-ranked commitment. Meanwhile, Georgia has 17 total commitment and the No. 13 recruiting class in the country.
Sam-Epelle is one of the biggest recruits from his class in terms of height and weight. The talented big man is ranked as the No. 16 OT and the No. 112 overall player from the class of 2027, per the 247Sports Composite Rankings. Sam-Epelle has played at an elite level throughout his time at Douglas County High School as well, and the lineman is listed as the No. 8 player out of Georgia.
The Bulldogs continue to target some of the top offensive lineman from the 2027 class. Georgia recently flipped 4-star offensive tackle Kennedee Jackson from Florida to UGA, and the Dawgs have shown no signs of slowing down on their recruitment trail in the near future.
