With LSU benching fifth-year senior quarterback Garrett Nussmeier against Alabama on Saturday night, the Tigers gave command of the offense to sophomore Michael Van Buren.
Saturday not only marked the second consecutive appearance for Van Buren in relief of Nussmeier, but also his most reps against an FBS team since transferring to LSU from Mississippi State prior to the 2025 season.

Saturday was the third appearance of Van Buren’s Tigers’ career, following previous stints against Southeastern Louisiana in late September and Texas A&M last month.

- Yards: 224
- Touchdowns: 2
- Interceptions: 0
Interestingly, Saturday marked the first time since Van Buren joined LSU where he did not pass for a touchdown in a game during which he appeared. His last game without a score was nearly a year ago, when Tennessee shut him out while still at MSU.
