We continue to count down the days until the start of the 2026 Kentucky Wildcats football season, and we're getting to know the players as we go. There are now 79 days until opening day against Youngstown State, and today we're taking a look at No. 79 for the Cats, Jay Clark.
Clark is a 6'4", 318 lb offensive lineman out of Ohio. As a high school recruit, he was rated three stars by 247Sports and ranked as their No. 987 overall player in the 2025 class. He had offers from Cincinnati, Indiana, and West Virginia among others, but committed to Kentucky in October of 2024, and stayed with the Cats through the coaching change.
In his first season in Lexington, Clark appeared in four games, but ended up redshirting and still gaining valuable experience, particularly against SEC foes Florida and Vanderbilt.
Heading into 2026, Clark will likely be the backup at right guard, behind Ohio State transfer Tegra Tshabola. He will almost certainly see some action and gain even more experience with an eye on earning a starting job in 2027. He could wind up as a hidden gem on this year's squad.
