It’s time to start preparing for the 2026 Syracuse Orange football season. We’re going through the roster to take a look at each Syracuse player as we get to know a lot of new faces for Year 3 of the Fran Brown Era.

Up next is…

Name: Dillan Fontus

Position: Defensive Line

Year: Senior

Height: 6’6”

Weight: 292 lbs

Hometown: Averne, NY

High School/Previous College: Canarsie/Maryland

2025 stats: Fontus played in 12 games for Maryland. He set career highs with 27 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss and one sack.

2026 projections: With the majority of Syracuse’s interior defensive line from 2025 graduating, Fontus will be looked upon to be an immediate impact player. It remains to be seen if new Orange defensive coordinator Vince Kehres will rotate players as much as previous Syracuse defensive regimes. Nonetheless, Fontus should see the field a lot for the Orange in 2026.

How’d he get here?: Fontus was a popular person in the transfer portal. He received offers from Alabama, Kentucky, Mississippi State, Oklahoma, South Carolina and Wisconsin. Fontus had a Syracuse offer out of high school as well.

What’d recruiting sites say?: As a high school recruit, Fontus had a four star rating from On3. He was three stars everywhere else, including when he entered the transfer portal.

Interesting nugget o’interest: Fontus was selected in 2025 as the inaugural male winner of the Big Ten Jackie Robinson Community & Impact Award.

Let’s get a look at ya: A look at Fontus in an Orange uniform from spring practice.
