Go Bowling Military Bowl O’Meter update

It’s hard to believe, but we’re down to just one week remaining in the college football regular season, Syracuse Orange football fans.

Things couldn’t end quicker for SU, who posted a mind-boggling 70-7 loss to No. 9 Notre Dame last Saturday. Now at 3-8, an ugly matchup awaits in the season finale against Boston College (1-10) this weekend in the Dome.

Our Go Bowling Military Bowl O’Meter is looking mighty sad heading into Week 14:

Here’s where the rest of the ACC stacks up with one game to play.

College Football Playoff Hopefuls

ACC Championship Game winner

While the conference might have only one team in the CFP, we’re still getting tons of drama each week leading up to the postseason. This time, No. 22 Pittsburgh (8-3, 6-1) upset No. 23 Georgia Tech (9-2, 6-2) 42-28 on the Yellow Jackets’ home turf, effectively knocking GT out of postseason contention. No. 21 SMU (8-3, 6-1) demolished Louisville and leapfrogged up to second in the standings. The Mustangs, along with No. 18 Virginia (9-2, 6-1), both make the ACCCG with a win this week. Pitt needs a win over No. 12 Miami and a loss by either of the two aforementioned teams to make it into the title game.

Higher-Tier Bowl Game Hopefuls

No. 12 Miami (9-2), No. 23 Georgia Tech (9-2), Wake Forest (8-3), Duke (6-5)

While it’s still technically possible that the Hurricanes, Yellow Jackets (and even the Blue Devils!) could make the title game, a lot would have to go right, making this “Higher-Tier” a logical landing spot. The Demon Deacons continue to roll with four straight wins, and the winner of the Wake/Duke matchup this weekend will land firmly in this range.

Lower-Tier Bowl Game Participants

Louisville (7-4), Cal (6-5), Clemson (6-5),  NC State (6-5)

Fenway could be calling for the Cardinals, who continue to drop like a rock after an uncompetitive loss to the Mustangs. Cal also got embarrassed at Stanford, but still earned its sixth win two weeks prior. The Tigers and Wolfpack both clinched bowl eligibility with wins last week, but it’s hard to see them jumping tiers even with one more dub.

Might be in?

Florida State (5-6)

After losing to NC State, the Seminoles have one more chance at postseason play on the road against Florida, which the oddsmakers project to be a coin flip.
