Grading Oregon football's 2026 recruiting class, signing day gets

Though the official national signing day Feb. 4 for future college athletes has lost most of its luster due to the emergence of the early signing period in December, the Oregon football team signed a pair of highly rated prospects Feb. 4 to round out its 2026 class.

The Ducks‘ roster, barring any future changes, should be officially set for the 2026 football season.

UO added a signing day commitment and subsequent signee in three-star defensive lineman Anthony Jones — not to be confused with five-star edge signee Anthony “Tank” Jones — and signed January four-star running back commit Brandon Smith, filling two key positions of need.

With Oregon’s 2026 recruiting class now complete, here’s how the Ducks stack up and how we’d grade their signing class.

Oregon football recruiting class grades

  • Oregon football 2026 recruiting class overall grade: A

At this point its hard to argue against anything other than top marks for Oregon coach Dan Lanning’s roster construction. The Ducks picked up yet another class ranked inside the top 10 in the country and look the part, already.

Oregon went heavy in the trenches and at defensive back while hauling in some impressive receivers for the second straight class, headlined by four five-star recruits. That includes the massive 6-foot-6, 345-pound Immanuel Iheanacho, the top interior offensive line prospect in the country.

Throw in 6-7, dual-sport tight end prospect Kendre Harrison, speedy receiver Jalen Lott and 6-4, 240-pound edge rusher Tank Jones and Lanning managed to secure yet another healthy class at the helm in Eugene.

Offensive lineman Immanuel Iheanacho, seen here attending a University of Oregon football event in summer 2024, has signed with Oregon to help give the Ducks a strong contingent up front in the 2026 signing class.

Oregon football recruiting grades by position

  • Quarterback: D — Oregon’s lone quarterback signee in the 2026 class, Bryson Beaver, backed out of his signing and entered the transfer portal, eventually enrolling at Georgia. It’s hard to blame the Ducks, though, who picked up Dylan Raiola in the portal and have a healthy group of young QBs already.
  • Running back: A — The Ducks’ late signing of four-star Brandon Smith was a huge find after a good chunk of the 2025 RB group graduated or moved on from the program. Throw in four-star prospect Tradarian Ball and the Ducks have a pair of capable freshman backs for the second straight season.
  • Offensive line: A — Iheanacho is the jewel of the class, but Oregon’s offensive line class is 2026 is massive. Tommy Tofi and Koloi Keloi both look the part and fill in depth for a position of need.
  • Tight end: A — Oregon signed just one tight end in its 2026 class, but he’s a big one. Harrison plans on playing basketball for the Ducks, as well, and at 6-7, 243 pounds he could play right away for the football team, too.
  • Wide receiver: A — Though Oregon struck out on few top receiver prospects, they landed five-star Jalen Lott, four-star Messiah Hampton and three-star Hudson Lewis, with Lott in particular a player to watch early.
  • Defensive line: B — Local prospect Tony Cumberland is the prize of this defensive line class, and given how decimated the depth of the Ducks is along the DL, Cumberland and fellow signees Prince Tavizon and Anthony Jones may play meaningful snaps in as true freshmen.
  • Linebacker: B — At another big position of need, Braylon Hodge and Tristan Phillips are two taller linebackers with tools to succeed at the collegiate level, both standing 6-3.
  • Cornerback: B — Four-stars Davon Benjamin and Azel Banag likely won’t play right away in 2026, with Brandon Finney and Ify Obidegwu returning next year, but both have developmental tools for the future and give Oregon depth.
  • Safety: A — The Ducks signed three safeties in the 2026 class: four-stars Jett Washington, Xavier Lherisse and Devin Jackson. Washington, standing 6-5, is an intriguing early prospect.
  • Specialists: N/A
