The North Carolina Tar Heels have their next head coach, hiring Michael Malone to replace Hubert Davis. But now the work really begins as the offseason is here.

That starts with the transfer portal. Already, North Carolina has seen several players enter the transfer portal, which was no shocker. With a new head coach in charge, players entering the portal made a lot of sense for them.

The Tar Heels will also be very active in terms of finding players through the portal. On Wednesday, a potential option with a connection to the school opted to enter the portal. Standout Penn State guard Kayden Mingo announced he was entering the transfer portal on Wednesday.

Kayden is the older brother of five-star recruit Dylan Mingo, who committed to North Carolina earlier in 2026 as one of three players in the Tar Heels’ class. So far, Dylan has yet to decommit and the brothers have discussed playing with eachother in college.

If Dylan stays committed to North Carolina, this could be a big package deal for Malone in his first year.
