Hamilton star receiver Roye Oliver III commits to USC

After attending a USC-Michigan football game last fall in Los Angeles, Chandler Hamilton wide receiver Roye Oliver III envisioned himself playing for the Trojans.

Oliver on Friday, March 27, committed to USC to make that a reality.

"It's close to home and they have the perfect fit, offensive-wise, for me," Oliver said in a text message to The Republic. "The staff are all great people to be around.

"And to be part of and having this relationship with Coach (Chad) Savage (USC's inside receivers coach/pass game coordinator) since the eighth grade, I don't think there was any reason to wait to commit."

Oliver, 5-foot-10, 165 pounds, has two more high school seasons to play, after breaking out into his own on a national scale as a sophomore last season, when he caught 92 passes for 1,839 yards and 29 TDs during an 11-1 season. He also is a dynamic punt returner.

Oliver was chosen The Republic's Offensive Player of the Year for the 2025 season and also named the Gatorade Arizona Player of the Year. He also was the Ed Doherty Award winner, among other accolades.

Hamilton coach Travis Dixon called USC a great fit for Oliver.

"It's a school that he always dreamed of playing for," Dixon said. "They've done a great job of recruiting the last several years. I'm just excited for him and his family that this process is finally over.

"It's awesome to know that he is very focused on what he wants and what he wants to get done at the college level. He's a pro at everything he does,'' Dixon added. "First in the weight room, first on the practice field. He's always going to improve. You can't ask for a better player. I think USC is going to get a great great player who is going come in and contribute right away."
