Deion Sanders finally got the deal he wanted with EA Sports. The timing gave college football fans plenty to work with.
EA announced that Sanders is being added as the Colorado Buffaloes’ head coach in College Football 27 as part of its September 22 update, ending his absence from the first three editions since the franchise returned.
CFB Fans Roast Deion Sanders After College Football 27 Addition
The announcement arrived two days after the Buffaloes suffered a 41-7 loss to the Northwestern Wildcats, dropping Sanders’ team to 2-1.
Sanders hadsaid in July that if he was not included in the game, “that means they weren’t paying enough.” Two months later, Coach Prime is officially joining the virtual sideline.
One fanjoked about the reversal, writing, “He said in July they weren’t paying enough. Now he’s in. Most transparent contractor invoice in sports history.”
A thirdasked, “He doesn’t call the plays does he?”

Another fantook a shot, writing, “Now someone can actually make Colorado good with Deion.”
The harshest reactions tied the gaming announcement to Sanders’ future in Boulder. One userwrote, “He knows he’s getting fired soon, so at least he’ll have a way for us to remember him when people play this version of the game in a year or two.”
Another supplied reaction labeled Sanders the “worst coach in college football.”
Those are fan reactions, not reports about Sanders’ job status. Colorado signed him to a five-year, $54 million extension in 2025 that runs through 2029, and there has been no announcement that his job is currently in jeopardy.
Colorado’s Northwestern Loss Adds Fuel to Criticism
The timing nevertheless made the jokes sharper. Colorado entered Saturday 2-0 before Northwestern overwhelmed the Buffaloes 41-7.

Sanders’ team committed four turnovers, failed on all three fourth-down attempts, and allowed Aidan Chiles to account for five touchdowns.
Colorado’s current PFN metrics show the program still has significant ground to make up. The Buffaloes own a 68.8Offense Impact grade, No. 97 nationally, while their 76.6 Defense Impact grade ranks No. 63.
One fanreacted, “[Expletive] know that coaching job bout to be over.”
Sanders responded to the Northwestern loss by making actual changes rather than virtual ones.
On Tuesday, he revealed that multiple players were no longer with the program after what he described as an unacceptable pattern of behavior.
College Football 27 players can now try solving Colorado themselves. Sanders’ real version still has nine regular-season games left to determine whether the jokes age well or disappear as quickly as a bad dynasty save.
