OXFORD – Ole Miss’ Pete Golding is scheduled to make a base salary of $6.8 million in his first season as head coach, according to a term sheet obtained by the Daily Journal. Golding, who was recently promoted from defensive coordinator following Lane Kiffin’s departure to LSU, will receive a base-salary raise of $100,000 per year for five years, culminating in a base salary of $7.2 million in 2030.

There are also incentives for conference wins, postseason berths and Coach of the Year honors, among others. Golding’s buyout should he be fired for anything other than cause is “an amount equal to … (75%) of the remaining OMAF (Ole Miss Athletics Foundation) Annual Compensation … that would be due through the otherwise unexpired Term.”

The Daily Journal also received new contracts for a handful of assistants – offensive coordinator John David Baker, defensive assistant Bryan Brown, offensive line coach John Garrison, special teams coordinator Jake Schoonover, outside linebacker coach Matt Kitchens, safeties coach Wes Neighbors and inside linebacker coach Jay Shoop.

Baker, who was hired earlier this week from East Carolina, will have a base salary of $1 million his first season. Brown, whose title is listed as “head coach of defense” will make $1.2 million. Garrison’s new deal will pay $850,000, Kitchens’ will pay $250,000, Neighbors’ will pay $525,000, Schoonover’s $575,000 and Shoop’s $250,000.

Contracts for running backs coach Kevin Smith, quarterbacks coach Joe Judge and defensive line coach Randall Joyner were also sent over in the records request, but they had not been recently amended.
