MANHATTAN — Kansas State football is coming off a productive day in working the transfer portal, and it doesn’t appear to be slowing down soon.
The Wildcats are still in the mix for a handful of names on both sides of the ball, with some scheduled to visit and others having already made their way through Manhattan. An emphasis will soon be placed on the Wildcats’ defensive front, while also a few more offensive linemen and linebackers. The Wildcats probably aren’t done adding offensive weapons either.
Here is an updated look at Kansas State’s ongoing targets and who to keep an eye on in the days ahead.
Ja’son Prevard, Virginia, CB
Prevard was an honorable mention All-ACC corner this past season, recording 24 tackles, three interceptions and five pass breakups. 247Sports reported that he visited K-State on Jan. 7. He allowed 18 catches on 33 targets, 240 yards and no touchdowns when targeted, intercepting three passes and breaking up two passes. He’s listed at 6-foot-2, 199 pounds.
Jamond Mathis, Kent State, EDGE
Mathis posted on X that he will be in Manhattan on Jan. 8, while he’s also scheduled to be in Memphis on Jan. 9. Mathis started his career at Southern Illinois before becoming an All-MAC Second Team performer as a redshirt-sophomore in 2025, recording 28 total tackles and six sacks.
Theo Melin Ohrstrom, Texas A&M, TE
Ohrstrom is one of the top tight ends in the portal and is considering the Wildcats, SMU, Auburn and Houston, according to 247Sports. Of course, he is well acquainted with Kansas State‘s new staff. He had 19 catches for 268 yards and a touchdown last season. He was a four-star prospect in the Class of 2022 and would have one season of eligibility remaining.
Wes King, Wyoming, OL
Kansas State is fighting Texas and West Virginia for a big offensive line target, who is listed at 6-foot-5, 315 pounds. King has been a three-year starter and has yet to allow a sack.
Cam Pettaway, Bowling Green, RB
Pettaway is scheduled to visit K-State on Jan. 8 after being named the MAC Freshman of the Year in 2025. K-State is the only school that has been publicly connected to him, and the Wildcats are still in need of some running backs, even after the addition of Rodney Fields Jr. Kansas State currently has four backs on the roster after HD Davis was released from his December signing.
Miguel Mitchell, Arkansas, S
247Sports said Mitchell was on Kansas State’s campus on Jan. 5, while he was also set to visit an SEC school at some point this week. Mitchell started his career with two seasons at Florida before starting five games over the last two seasons for the Razorbacks.
Ja’Cory Thomas, Old Dominion, WR
Thomas is scheduled to visit Kansas State on Jan. 9-10 after visiting Houston, Baylor and Mizzou. He’s listed at 6-foot-3, and he finished second on the team with 41 catches for 719 yards and five touchdowns. He played his junior college ball at Hutchinson.
Santana Wilson, Texas, CB
Wilson posted that he was considering Kansas State, Texas A&M and Arizona State, hoping to set up a visit to Manhattan. He’s a 6-foot corner, who was a four-star prospect out of high school and a top 150 recruit.
Delvin Morris, Akron, OL
Morris’ agency posted on Jan. 6 that he is setting up visits with Kansas State and UCF. He started three games for the Zips late in his redshirt sophomore season and is listed at 6-foot-3, 280 pounds.
Kansas State football targets to continue to monitor
Antonio Tripp, Florida International, OL
Tripp has yet to commit after his Jan. 3 visit. He posted on X that he visited Virginia on Jan. 7.
Ian Foster, Southern Miss, S
Foster visited on Jan. 5, while Memphis, Houston, Ole Miss, Oregon and Arkansas were also in the mix.
Malachi Preciado, South Alabama, OL
Preciado was reportedly working on a visit to Kansas State. He posted on Jan. 6 that he was visiting South Florida.
