Houston (Texas) Cy Ranch quarterback Braden Baker announced his commitment to Houston on Friday. He chose the Cougars over offers from Baylor, Louisiana Tech and UTSA.
“The biggest reason I chose Houston was my relationship with coach (Shawn) Bell and the way he made me feel at home every time I visited Houston,” Baker told Rivals’ Sam Spiegelman.”
Bell’s track record as a quarterbacks coach was a big part of Baker’s decision.
“I’m excited about my fit with Houston because of how many elite QBs coach Bell has coached, I’m excited to be a part of it,” he said. “The coaching staff has a vision for me, and I believe I can grow a lot in their system. Overall, it’s the culture, the work ethic and the opportunity to develop that has me most excited.”
The three-star signal caller is ranked as the No. 475 overall prospect in the country and No. 33 quarterback, according to the Rivals Industry Rankings, an equally weighted formula that utilizes the three major recruiting services.
Baker is the fifth commitment for the Cougars’ 2027 class, joining four other prospects from the Greater Houston area: defensive lineman Raiden Cook, receiver Braylon Lane, athlete Mo Poko and edge rusher Cael Thigpen.
