Former LSU football running back John Emery had a whirlwind of a career. He signed with LSU in 2019 and transferred to UTSA after the 2024 season. He was with the Tigers on their national title run with Joe Burrow and remained with the team as Ed Orgeron was fired and Brian Kelly was hired. Emery spent six years at LSU before spending a seventh year in college football at UTSA.

However, Emery didn't see the field much with the Roadrunners. He only played five offensive snaps and carried the ball four times for four yards in UTSA's Week 7 game vs. Rice.

2025 marked the end of Emery's lengthy college football career. He finished with 228 carries for 1,117 yards and 14 touchdowns. His two most productive years were 2020 and 2022. In 2020, Emery ran for 373 yards and three scores. In 2022, he totaled 370 yards and six touchdowns.

Emery was one of a select few players to be a part of LSU's 2019 and 2023 offenses — two historic units with Heisman-winning quarterbacks.

Emery was one of the top-ranked running back recruits in his class. He was a five-star when he signed with the Tigers and there were moments where that talent flashed. But as Emery naviagted a handful of injuries, he found it hard to establish a full-time role in LSU's backfield.
