The future is bright for LSU football under new head coach Lane Kiffin, but another season is passing by with the Tigers watching from the outside of the College Football Playoff. If things go according to plan, that will be a rarity rather than a common occurrence, but it’s a reality for the 2025 Tigers.
Several former Tigers did make the postseason, however. Those former Tigers include wide receiver CJ Daniels (Miami), Da’Shawn Womack (Ole Miss), Sage Ryan (Ole Miss), and Logan Diggs (Ole Miss).
Here’s how they performed in Round 1 of the College Football Playoff:
CJ Daniels – Wide Receiver – Miami
Daniels played for LSU for just one season before transferring to Miami. As 247Sports’ 22nd-ranked transfer receiver, Daniels was expected to have a big season in Coral Gables. He didn’t make the consistent impact many expected, however, ranking third on the team in receptions (37) and receiving yards (420). Some of that was out of his hands, as the former Tiger was hurt in Week 9 against Stanford, sidelining him for several weeks.
Though the Hurricanes toppled Texas A&M in the first round, Daniels didn’t play a major role, recording only two catches for 29 yards.
Da’Shawn Womack – Edge Rusher – Ole Miss
Womack has been a solid rotational edge for the Rebels this season, ranking sixth on the team in pressures (16) and tied for fourth in sacks (2), per PFF.

Ole Miss throttled Tulane in round one of the CFP, with Womack making a respectable impact in his limited role. He didn’t record any pass rush statistics during his 18 snaps, but he recorded three solo tackles.
Sage Ryan – Safety – Ole Miss
Ryan has had a more productive year in Oxford than his fellow LSU transfer, starting eight games for the Rebels’ defense. He wasn’t exactly a standout, but he had a productive season, totaling 23 tackles, 12 defensive stops, and four pass breakups, per PFF.
Ryan didn’t record any statistics in Ole Miss’ win over Tulane.
Logan Diggs – Running Back – Ole Miss
Diggs was a casualty of what used to be a crowded LSU running back room, electing to leave Baton Rouge for Oxford after the 2023 season. He hasn’t been heavily involved in the Rebels’ offense since then, totaling 30 rushing attempts for 194 yards and four touchdowns over his two seasons with the team.
Diggs did get involved in the Rebels’ CFP win over Tulane, however, recording four rushes for 11 yards and a touchdown. He also saw some work in the passing game, hauling in two catches for 25 yards.
