Former Ole Miss football coach Lane Kiffin had two reactions to the Rebels’ Fiesta Bowl loss on Jan. 8.

He thought Miami should’ve been called for pass interference on the final play of the game. He also applauded Ole Miss‘ effort in the College Football Playoffs.

The Rebels (13-2) lost 31-27 to the Hurricanes (13-2) at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona. Miami advanced to the national championship game and will play either Indiana or Oregon on Jan. 19 (6:30 p.m CT, ESPN) in Miami Gardens, Florida.

Kiffin left Ole Miss at the end of the regular season for LSU. Defensive coordinator Pete Golding was promoted to head coach.

“Amazing effort and grit,” Kiffin wrote on X, followed by tagging the Ole Miss football account and a crying face emoji. “best season every in the history of Ole Miss!! (Blue heart emoji) you guys.”

The post was accompanied with a gif of a heart breaking.

Ole Miss quarterback Trinidad Chambliss threw a go-ahead 24-yard touchdown to tight end Dae’Quan Wright with 3:13 remaining. Miami then took the lead back on Carson Beck’s 3-yard rushing touchdown with 18 seconds left.

Chambliss’ pass to the back corner of the end zone from 35 yards away fell incomplete on the final play of the game.

“Pass interference!!!” Kiffin posted on X with a 100-points symbol emoji.
