OXFORD — Ole Miss football and LSU have climbed to the top of the transfer portal rankings for the 2026 class.
The Rebels have the No. 2 transfer portal class, according to the 247Sports rankings on Jan. 17, the day after the portal closed. LSU is No. 1.
LSU has 35 commits under coach Lane Kiffin, who left Ole Miss on Nov. 39. The Tigers’ class consists of one transfer with a five-star rating − Arizona State quarterback Sam Leavitt − and 11 four-star players.
The Rebels, in their first year under coach Pete Golding, don’t have any transfers with a five-star rating but have pulled in eight four-star players and 21 total commitments. Former Auburn quarterback Deuce Knight was a splashy addition, and Ole Miss added four defensive backs who could be starters in 2026.
The biggest question remaining is what will happen with defensive end Princewill Umanmielen, whose portal entry Ole Miss is reportedly contesting.
The Rebels experienced tremendous portal success under Kiffin since 2022. It’s a good sign for Golding that the Rebels have remained a heavyweight in that regard.
Like the coaching staffs, there has been some interchange between the LSU and Ole Miss rosters.
Linebacker TJ Dottery is the biggest name. The SEC tackle leader in 2025 transferred to LSU on Jan. 16, according to an announcement just before midnight.
Offensive lineman Devin Harper and wide receiver Winston Watkins also transferred from Ole Miss to LSU.
Former LSU running back JT Lindsey and offensive tackle Carius Curne did the opposite. Both have committed to Ole Miss.
