The Kentucky Wildcats (2-1) come off a huge road win in Southeastern Conference play, taking a break from the rigors of the SEC on Saturday when they host the South Alabama Jaguars (2-1).

Kenny Minchey threw for two touchdowns and CJ Baxter ran for a pair as Kentucky stunned then-No. 9 Texas A&M in College Station 31-21 last week. Minchey finished 14-of-18 for 252 yards while Baxter picked up 87 yards on 19 carries and the Wildcat defense came up with two interceptions to help seal the win. Kentucky scored three TDs in the third quarter to take a 28-7 lead in a huge win for first-year coach Will Stein.
South Alabama never trailed in a 41-36 win over visiting Ohio last week, leading 38-21 midway through the fourth quarter and allowing a touchdown on the final play that brought the margin deceptively closer. The Jaguars rolled for 266 rushing yards, with Keenan Phillips picking up 116 and a score on 18 carries and Trae’von Dunbar scoring two touchdowns. PJ Martin added 80 yards on 21 attempts and added a TD.
Saturday marks the first meeting between the programs, with Minchey entering with 699 passing yards and seven touchdowns for the Wildcats, throwing one interception and completing 65.8% of his throws. Jason Patterson has 190 rushing yards on just 28 carries while Baxter checks in with 164 yards and four scores. Kenny Darby is a big-play threat in the passing game with 10 receptions for 183 yards and two TDs. Phillips leads the Jaguars for 226 rushing yards while Martin enters with 222 and three touchdowns, with South Alabama averaging 229.7 yards per game on the ground. Quarterback Bishop Davenport did not play against Ohio due to a lingering injury, with backup Jared Hollins directing the offense in the win.
