BATON ROUGE – Lane Kiffin and LSU football landed their first commitment from this transfer portal window.

Hawai’i wide receiver Jackson Harris committed to LSU Sunday. Harris visited Baton Rouge Saturday and announced his commitment the next day.

Harris signed with Stanford out of high school and played two seasons there before his breakout campaign in 2025 with the Rainbow Warriors. He has two seasons of eligibility remaining.

The 6-3, 205 pounder put up big numbers this season with 49 receptions for 963 yards and 12 touchdowns.

Why WR Jackson Harris picked LSU football from transfer portal

If there’s one word to describe Kiffin’s offense, it’s explosive. And that’s the main part of Harris’ game.

This past season at Hawai’i, Harris collected five 60-plus yard receptions which was tied for the most in college football. Four of those catches ended up touchdowns so Harris has the ability to take the lid off the top of a defense.

For Kiffin and his offense, it’s a match made in heaven.

How Jackson Harris will fit with LSU football’s roster

As things stands, LSU’s roster is very much in flux as a lot of wide receivers have either entered their name into the 2026 NFL Draft or are in the transfer portal themselves.

So Harris fits in well as there’s little depth at the position right now for the Tigers. But he fits exactly what Kiffin and his offensive staff were looking for out of the portal, so Harris should be in line to compete for playing time right away in Baton Rouge.

LSU football transfer targets

  • Boise State safety Ty Benefield
  • Penn State edge rusher Chaz Coleman
  • Kansas State wide receiver Jayce Brown
  • Florida wide receiver Eugene Wilson
  • Clemson defensive lineman Stephiylan Green
  • North Carolina State wide receiver Terrell Anderson
  • California-Davis running back Carter Vargas
  • McNeese State cornerback Javon Davis
  • Cincinnati quarterback Brendan Sorsby
  • UAB wide receiver Iverson Hooks

When does transfer portal close

The NCAA transfer portal window closes on Jan. 16. Players cannot enter their name in the portal following that date. But those who’s name is already in the transfer portal can still decide and sign with a new school after Jan. 16.
