It's no secret that former Auburn head coach Hugh Freeze has dealt with health issues over the past years. But not even surgery has kept him from coaching his teams in the past. Nevertheless, his daughter had a rather concerning update on Freeze's current state.
Taking to TikTok this week, Madi Freeze admitted that part of her is relieved that her father is no longer the head coach at Auburn because his health has been deteriorating recently over the stress of the whole situation. She said that her father will now be undergoing various surgeries following his diagnosis of prostate cancer earlier this year.
"In some twisted way, there's a relief factor for me personally because I've watched my dad's health just deteriorate over this. Other people can see it, I know y'all can see it, he's not healthy," she said.
"I'm thankful there's relief that my dad finally gets to have the surgeries that he needs, and they're scheduled, and he's going to get healthy."
Madi Freeze made it clear that while she and her family loved Auburn, it was clear that they were not loved back.
"We loved Auburn, and the second we got here, everybody was very adamant that if you love Auburn, it will love you back," she said. "Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case for us…. We don’t wish bad upon them, but we do hope that they turn to the lord and find Jesus."
An ill-fated marriage
Freeze was hired at Auburn in 2023 following a very successful run as the head coach at Liberty and an iconic tenure at Ole Miss where he emerged as one of the few coaches capable of consistently beating Alabama during the height of Nick Saban's career.
But a 6-7 season in 2023 followed by a 5-7 campaign in 2024 where they didn't even get bowl eligible set Freeze up for a rough 2025. The "response" was a 4-5 start which saw Freeze fired following a loss to Kentucky where his Tigers couldn't even score a touchdown. Freeze was loudly booed out of the stadium and fired less than 24 hours later.
