Ohio State Buckeyes star Jeremiah Smith was instrumental once again in a big win for his team. One particular catch had fans already declaring him the best college football player in the country.

Jeremiah Smith scored two touchdowns as Ohio State beat Maryland 45-16. Smith finished with four catches for 93 yards as the Buckeyes’ star receiver continued his sensational run of form. He turned short passes into scores of 33 and 40 yards.

Smith helped Ohio State establish a 31-10 lead by halftime. The Terrapins briefly cut the deficit to 15 points after returning an interception for a touchdown, but Ohio State later pulled away. Smith also added another impressive highlight to his ever-growing reel.

Jeremiah Smith’s stunning one-handed grab left fans on social media in awe of the star receiver

It is quite rare to see a non-quarterback go No. 1 overall in the NFL Draft. For that matter, even the Heisman Trophy usually ends up in the hands of a quarterback, especially in the modern era. However, Smith looks like he might just be special enough to break that cycle.

In the victory over Maryland, one play from Smith really stood out on social media. He grabbed the ball with one hand, before escaping a tackle and getting the first down. Fans in the video’s replies couldn’t help but show Smith a whole lot of love.

“Jeremiah Smith is the one guy in college football you can’t scheme away,” one fan wrote. “Just give him the Heisman already,” another comment claimed. “Honestly, do we really need to have a Heisman Ceremony? Just give it to him now,” a third fan agreed.

“As a non-biased football fan, dude is the best receiver I’ve seen coming out of college in 20 years,” claimed a fourth fan. “Jeremiah Smith is like a human cheat code, man,” said another. “He needs to get the Heisman easily, he is the best player in college football by far,” a sixth fan commented.

Smith has taken his game to another level in his third season with the Buckeyes. 48 receptions, 916 receiving yards and 11 touchdowns through six games is a bit absurd. He is on pace to break quite a few records if he keeps going. One thing is for sure, the Buckeyes star does look like the best of the very best.
