The Hurricanes had arguably the nation’s best pair of defensive ends in Rueben Bain Jr. and Akheem Mesidor last season.
Both are headed to the NFL, but Miami is filling one of those vacancies with a top portal addition: standout defensive end Damon Wilson II.
Wilson, a 6-foot-4, 250-pound defensive end, committed to UM after a recent visit, according to a post he shared on social media. He gives the Hurricanes a major portal pickup in the trenches.
Wilson, a former five-star prospect out of Venice High, originally signed with Georgia. He transferred to Missouri after the 2024 season.
Last year at Missouri, Wilson had 23 tackles with nine sacks. He had a 78.5 defensive grade with an 80.9 pass-rushing grade. He was a second-team All-SEC pick and had 54 quarterback pressures, which was tied for 13th nationally.
UM loses veteran defensive back
Defensive back Jadais Richard is entering the transfer portal, according to CBS Sports.
Richard spent three seasons at Miami after transferring from Vanderbilt. His most active season was in 2024, when he played 405 defensive snaps before sustaining a season-ending injury.
Richard played three games in 2025, making six tackles with one sack and two pass deflections.
