The Georgia Bulldogs and the Ole Miss Rebels are set to meet on Jan. 1 in the Sugar Bowl, which serves as a College Football Playoff quarterfinal game this season.

Ole Miss advanced to the quarterfinals thanks to its win against Tulane in the opening round of the College Football Playoff.

Georgia, meanwhile, received a bye after winning the SEC Championship Game and finishing No. 3 in the final playoff rankings.

National college football analyst predicts the final score of Ole Miss vs Georgia

On3’s JD PicKell made his picks this week for each of the College Football Playoff quarterfinal games, and he has Georgia taking down Ole Miss.

“I think the Lane Kiffin stuff (leaving Ole Miss for LSU) is overdone,” said PicKell. “If Lane Kiffin was coaching in this game, I would still feel the same way. It’s not about Ole Miss to me — it’s about the trend of Georgia. I picked them to win the national championship when this whole thing started. I have seen nothing that would cause me to deter from that pick.

“I think that Kirby (Smart) with a mulligan, with the same exact circumstances in the same exact building they lost last year to finish their season — I think that’s dangerous. I think Georgia wins. I think Georgia covers. I think the Dawgs get it done in the Sugar Bowl. Final score, 38-27. Kirby and the guys advance to the next round of the College Football Playoff.”

Georgia beat Ole Miss 43-35 earlier this season.

It can be tough to beat a team twice in one season, but PicKell seems confident that the Bulldogs will get the job done.

We’ll see on Jan. 1 at 8:00 PM ET if he’s correct.
